“Nexus Auto Care”, “we”, “our”, or “us” means Nexus Auto Care Ltd, NZBN 9429052166969, registered office 763A Ararimu Road, Ararimu, Auckland 2579, New Zealand. We act as the “agency” under the Privacy Act 2020

We comply with New Zealand’s 13 Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) and other applicable laws. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Identity & contact - Name, phone #, email, postal address, driver-licence #

Vehicle data - Registration plate, make/model, VIN, service history

Transaction data - Services provided, invoices, payment method

Technical data - IP address, browser type, referring pages, cookies

Marketing preferences - Email or SMS opt-in/out, feedback, reviews

4. How we collect information

  • Directly. when you request a quote, make a booking, email us, or pay an invoice.

  • Automatically. via cookies, server logs, and analytic tools (e.g., Google Analytics).

  • Third parties. finance providers, parts suppliers, or insurers (with your consent).

5. Why we collect and use it

We only collect what is reasonably necessary and use it for:

  1. Providing, scheduling, and documenting vehicle services.

  2. Processing payments and issuing invoices.

  3. Sending service reminders, safety recalls, and important updates.

  4. Improving our website, services, and customer experience.

  5. Marketing similar services (you may opt out any time).

  6. Meeting legal, warranty, and insurance obligations.

6. Disclosure of your information

We may share information:

  • Service partners – specialist workshops, parts suppliers, or diagnostic labs.

  • Payment providers – Stripe or your bank, to process transactions.

  • Analytics or cloud hosts – Google Analytics, Microsoft 365, or AWS (servers in Australia).

  • Regulators – NZ Transport Agency (WOF data), Police, or courts when required by law.

We never sell your personal information.

We use first-party and third-party cookies to:

  • remember your preferences,

  • compile aggregate statistics, and

  • enable online booking.

You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of the site may not work.

8. Storage & security

Data is stored in encrypted databases with role-based access, MFA, and regular backups. We follow NZ Government guidance on web-security and privacy.

9. Data retention

​

We keep records for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes above and to meet tax or warranty requirements (generally 7 years), then securely destroy or anonymize them.

10. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act you may:

  • Access personal information we hold about you.

  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated data.

  • Object/opt-out of marketing communications.

Contact us in writing (see section 12). We will respond within 20 working days.

11. Marketing communications

​

If you opt in, we may email service reminders, promotions, or newsletters. You can unsubscribe anytime by clicking the link in the email or contacting us.
